Leonald ‘Lee D.’ Connor

Leonald ‘Lee D.’ Connor of Bend died Dec. 10 of natural causes. He was 85.

A private service will be held.

Mr. Connor was born July 31, 1916, in Nolin. He married Ada Jo Bowman on Dec. 13, 1947, in Portland.

He enlisted in the US Army in 1941 and served as a supply sergeant in the Eighth Airforce in England and Ireland. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

Mr. Connor worked as a Texaco Distributor for 35 years and in property management for 40 years in Arlington. He moved to be closer to family in 1997.

He was a life member of the Condon Elks Lodge No. 1869, a member of the TV Co-Op and a contributing founder of the ABC Board, both in Arlington.

Mr. Connor enjoyed vacationing at his home in Seaside, spending time with his family, fishing, yardwork, house projects and his Cadillac.

Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Hjersen of Bend; two sisters, Helen Dunham-Burrows of Wilsonville and Dolores Stowaser of Corvallis; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren and three step greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a son.

Kenneth V. Towner

Kenneth V. Towner of Bend died Wednesday of natural causes. He was 43.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Funeral Home.

Mr. Towner was born Sept. 22, 1958, in Salem to Selby Jr. and Annabeth (Laughlin) Towner.

He moved to New Mexico when he was eight years old and attended school there. He then moved to Klamath Falls where he worked in construction and attended Oregon Institute of Technology. He moved to Bend in the mid-1990’s to help his mother with her business, Towner Enterprises. He also worked for Awnings Unlimited in Bend installing decks and awnings.

Mr. Towner enjoyed fishing and camping, especially at Wickiup Reservoir. He was fond of animals, had several older model Chevrolet trucks and liked rock n’ roll music.

Survivors include his son, Cory of Klamath Falls; one daughter, Kristen of Klamath Falls; two brothers, Earl of Bend and David of Irving, Texas; one sister, Dode Larson of Tigard; and his campanion, Pam Cooper of Bend.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
