OUR PHILOSOPHY:
Sunriver Preparatory School was founded in 1983 to provide excellent independent education to the students of Central Oregon. We value knowledge, integrity, compassion and the qualities necessary for individuals to contribute constructively in society. We are committed to the personal and intellectual growth unique to each student and, with an average class size of 12-15, have the ability to tailor our curriculum to meet the educational needs of our students.
How students learn is just as important as what they learn, and thus we encourage our students to participate in all facets of the learning process. We believe that learning is an active pursuit and that it should be celebrated and shared by all.
CURRICULUM:
The adventure of learning begins early at Sunriver Preparatory School. Beginning in Pre-Kindergarten (at age 4), our students are challenged by a developmentally appropriate curriculum that emphasizes individual attention and growth and the development of a child’s natural curiosity. Our students receive instruction in core subjects as well as enriching experiences in computers, foreign language, art, music, and drama. The Upper School emphasizes rigorous college preparation, which includes outstanding college counseling. Advanced Placement and Honors classes are available also. Our students participate in a number of extra-curricular activities, including field trips, student government, and volunteer service. We also offer a variety of developmental and interscholastic sports.
DID YOU KNOW THAT:
100 percent of SPS graduates have been accepted to some of the most challenging colleges and universities at the national and international level.
The High School Curriculum includes two classes devoted to college counseling, testing preparation, application techniques and school selection.
SPS has applied to become an alternative contract school with the Bend-La Pine School District in 2003-2004. This would allow the school to offer the same quality program free of tuition.
Progress continues to be made on plans to become the region’s first International Baccalaureate program for grades pre-K through 12.
Students who attend SPS CAN participate in any public school program not offered at SPS, including some sports, orchestra or band.
The SPS campus is located off Highway 97 South in Bend.
