Charlie Watson

Aug. 28, 1903 – Aug. 22, 2002

Charlie Watson of Sisters died Thursday in Redmond of natural causes. He was 98.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Redmond.

Mr. Watson was born Aug. 28, 1903, in Clearlake, Wash., to John and May (Beebe) Watson. He married Vera on Aug. 28, 1927, in Milton-Freewater. He moved to Bend in 1910 and to Sisters in 1932.

Mr. Watson worked as a timber faller and retired in 1965.

He enjoyed chores around his home, running a power saw, chopping wood and falling timber. His interests also included rockhounding.

Mr. Watson was affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Survivors include his wife of Sisters; a son, Terry of Sisters; two daughters, Phyllis Rankin and LaDonna, both of Redmond; a stepsister, Mary Moe of Redmond; one grandchild and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Caroline Louise (Flanegin) Osburn

Oct. 10, 1911 – Aug. 21, 2002

Caroline Louise (Flanegin) Osburn of La Pine died Wednesday of congestive heart failure. She was 90.

No services will be held.

Mrs. Osburn was born Oct. 10, 1911, in Pottsville, Penn. She married John Osburn on July 4, 1936, in Los Angeles.

Mrs. Osburn was a homemaker. She moved to La Pine 11 years ago.

Survivors include her two sons, Larry of Coquille and Dan of Anaheim, Calif.; a daughter, Carol Vaughn of La Pine; and one grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Newberry Hospice in La Pine.

Ruth Carolyn (Smith) Lacher

Feb. 16, 1935 – Aug. 21, 2002

Ruth Carolyn (Smith) Lacher of Redmond died Wednesday of natural causes. She was 67.

A private service will be held.

Mrs. Lacher was born Feb. 16, 1935, in Manhattan, N.Y. She married Larry Lacher in 1961.

She worked as an undercover police woman. She also worked for the Cascade Child Center in Redmond for 8 years and as cook for the American Legion.

Mrs. Lacher was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge, both in Redmond.

She enjoyed cooking, working, bowling leagues in Redmond and playing Bingo at the American Legion.

She lived in Redmond for 18 years.

Survivors include her two daughters, Debbie Armbrust of Omaha, Neb., and Sherry DeLarre of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
