Bobbie L. Casteel

Aug. 19, 1933 – Oct. 23, 2002

Bobbie L. Casteel of Prineville died Oct. 23. He was 69.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Faith Ministries Centre International, 357 NE Court St., Prineville.

James Glendon Selken

Oct. 6, 1927 – Nov. 4, 2002

James Glendon Selken of Eugene died Monday. He was 75.

Mr. Selken was born Oct. 6, 1927.

He served in the Marine Corps.

Mr. Selken was a millworker and former resident of Bend.

He was affiliated with BPOE Elks Lodge #1371 in Bend.

Survivors include cousins, Ardelle Butler, Elaine Parker and DeLoris Bjorvik, all of Bend.

Central Oregon Funeral Alternatives is in charge of arrangements.

Thelma Pearl (Caswell) Visser

Oct. 3, 1924 – Nov. 2, 2002

Thelma Pearl (Caswell) Visser of Bend died Nov. 2 of natural causes. She was 78.

A service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Visser was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Custer, Ohio. She married Mory Visser in 1986, in Bend.

She was a mobile home sales representative.

Mrs. Visser enjoyed reading, garage sales and gardening. She also liked to watch Christian television.

Survivors include her two sons, Jerry Batson Jr. of Gardner, Mont., and Randy Eagleson of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one daughter, Karen Eagleson of Sebastian, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Doris Helena Grindstaff

Nov. 8, 1917 – Nov. 7, 2002

Doris Helena Grindstaff of Prineville died Thursday of natural causes. She was 84.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Whispering Pines Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Grindstaff was born Nov. 8, 1917, in Oakland, Calif., to Charles and Emilie (Koch) Zimmerman. She graduated from Scappoose Union High School in 1935. She attended Normal School in Monmouth and earned a teaching certificate in 1937. She taught in one-room school houses before teaching in Twickenham.

She married D.R.”Rondalph” Grindstaff on Oct. 31, 1943, in Portland. Mrs. Grindstaff lived in Twickenham where she was a homemaker and rancher. She retired in 1982 and moved to Prineville.

She enjoyed reading, writing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She also liked to camp and fish.

Survivors include her two sons, David of Bend and Duane of Kent, Wash.; one daughter, Linda Bates of Powell Butte; one brother, Doug Zimmerman of Prineville; one sister, Ida Marie Dubuar of Portland; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to any food bank.

Melba Esther (Swager) Hogan

Nov. 30, 1921 – Nov. 6, 2002

Melba Esther (Swager) Hogan of Gresham died Wednesday. She was 80.

A private service will be held.

Mrs. Hogan was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Kelso, Wash. She lived in Kellogg, Idaho in the 1930s and 1940s. She married Eric Osterberg and moved to Portland in 1947.

She worked at Barnes V.A. Hospital in Vancouver, Wash., as a nurse. She married Stanley Hogan and moved to Bend in 1975.

Survivors include her three sons, David Osterberg, John Osterberg and Paul Osterberg; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her second husband.

Ross Hollywood Chapel in Portland is in charge of arrangements.

Larry Joe Yetter

March 17, 1943 – Nov. 6, 2002

Larry Joe Yetter of Bend died Wednesday. He was 59.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Yetter was born March 17, 1943, in Canton, Okla. He married Sharon Edmondson on Sept. 20, 1975, in San Pablo, Calif.

He managed hotels and motels throughout California and Oregon for the past 20 years.

Mr. Yetter was affiliated with First Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of Bend; three sons, Michael of Portland, Shawn of Bend and Joe of Los Angeles; two daughters, Michelle Wadley of Thurston, Ala., and LeAnn Currie of Vallejo, Calif.; his mother, Wanda Yetter of Vallejo, Calif.; one sister, Brenda Outman of Vallejo, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
