Shirley Mae
(Blakely) Moty
March 5, 1929 – Dec. 6, 2002
Shirley Mae (Blakely) Moty of Redding, Calif., died Dec. 6 of natural causes. She was 73.
A memorial mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Redding, Calif. Monsignor Russell Terra will officiate.
Mrs. Moty was born March 5, 1929, in Turtle River, Minn., to Lawrence and Evelyn (Larkin) Blakely. She graduated from Bend High School in 1946. She married George Moty on Oct. 29, 1949, in Bend.
She worked in the office at Brooks-Scanlon. She was also a homemaker.
She was affiliated with the Catholic Church in Redding and Burney, Calif.
Survivors include her husband of Redding, Calif.; four sons, Kevin of Santa Fe, N.M., Leonard and Patrick, both of Redding, Calif., and David of San Diego; five daughters, Karen of San Gregorio, Calif., Linda of Bethel, Conn., Mikel Ann of Winterport, Maine, Tress of Alameda, Calif., and Dianne of Redding, Calif.; two brothers, Bob Blakely of Lakewood, Colo., and Ken Blakely of Bend; two sisters Carolyn Nelson of Bend and Patt Logue of Lacey, Wash.; and six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, 1544 Market St., Redding, CA 96001 or St. Joseph Educational Foundation, 2460 Gold St., Redding, CA 96001.
Allen and Dahl Funeral Chapel in Redding is in charge of arrangements.
Loyd G. Phillips
Feb. 27, 1921 – Dec. 1, 2002
Loyd G. Phillips of Salome, Ariz., died Dec. 1 of natural causes. He was 81.
No service will be held.
Mr. Phillips was born Feb. 27, 1927, in Tahoka, Texas to Lester and Willie Phillips. He married Beulah Ingram on Jan. 20, 1945, in Salem.
He served in the Navy for six years during World War II. He was a Chief Gunners Mate.
Mr. Phillips moved to Redmond in 1958 and worked for the Deschutes Farmers Coop until 1972.
He also belonged to Local 121 working in construction until he retired in 1989.
He enjoyed hunting, gardening, reading and antique hunting.
He liked baseball and football and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He moved to Salome, Ariz., in 1991.
Survivors include one son, Larry of Baltimore, Md.; four daughters, Jo Moulton of Salome, Ariz., Janet Shaffer of Keizer, Jennifer Woodward of Osage City, Kan., and Jill Hannemann of Redmond; one brother, Arthur Phillips of Tucson, Ariz.; and one sister, Frances Carter of Redmond; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Arthur Art’ Lee Perkins
April 9, 1907 – Dec. 10, 2002
Arthur ”Art” Lee Perkins of Bend died Tuesday of natural causes. He was 95.
No service will be held.
Mr. Perkins was born April 9, 1907, in Lake Victory, Texas to Alonzo and Katie (Cook) Perkins. He married Myrtle Stiltner on Dec. 20, 1945, in Roseburg.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Perkins was a logger. He lived in Bend from 1959 to 2001, when he moved to The Dalles.
He enjoyed hunting and salmon fishing. He also liked to garden.
Survivors include his son, Gordon of Bend; one brother, Dock of Days Creek; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.

Dwight O. Macy
Sept. 21, 1917 – Dec. 10, 2002
Dwight O. Macy of Culver died Tuesday of natural causes. He was 85.
A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Bel-Air Colonial Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Metolius Friends Church.
Mr. Macy was born Sept. 21, 1917, in Fairfield, Iowa to Harlan and Clara (Roberts) Macy. He attended the University of Idaho where he lettered in wrestling. He married Marie Rhoads on Aug. 19, 1940, in Greenleaf, Idaho.
He owned and operated Macy Ranches.
He was affiliated with the 4-H Club, National Potato Council, Potato Commission, the Jefferson County Co-op, Metolius Friends Church, George Fox University, Cattlemen’s Association, Deschutes Valley Water Board and the Grand Greenleaf Friends Academy #1540. Mr. Macy served on the Culver School District Board for several terms.
Mr. Macy enjoyed his church and family.
Survivors include his wife of Culver; three sons, Ed and Richard, both of Culver and John of Redmond; two daughters, Reata Young of Redmond and Renae Charlton of Salem; one brother, Mahlor of Newberg; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to George Fox University or Greenleaf Friends Academy.

LeRoy Daniel Aeschliman
Aug. 7, 1910 – Dec. 10, 2002
LeRoy Daniel Aeschliman of Redmond died Tuesday of natural causes. He was 92.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Chapel. A viewing will follow the funeral service.
Mr. Aeschliman was born Aug. 7, 1910, in Sabertha, Kan., to Dan and Lucie (Nowak) Aeschliman. He moved to Oregon in 1936. He married Opal Jacquot in 1940 in Sisters.
He worked in the timber industry for Hitchcock and Ed Spoo lumber mills in Sisters. After moving to Bend in 1943, he owned two grocery stores. Mr. Aeschliman also worked in furniture and woodworking plants. He moved to Prineville in 1961 and worked at COIN Millwork. He retired in 1976.
Mr. Aeschliman was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors.
He married Ada Kirtley in January 1977.
Survivors include his wife of Redmond; one son, Chester Aeschliman of Accra, Ghana; one daughter, Diana Reding of Redmond; one brother, Paul of McPherson, Kan.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents and three brothers.

Marie Jennie Olson
April 14, 1898 – Dec. 11, 2002
Marie Jennie Olson of Bend died Wednesday of natural causes. She was 104.
A viewing will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Lutheran Church in Bend.
Mrs. Olson was born April 14, 1898, in Oslo, Norway to Edward and Marthea (Moen) Dahl. She married John Olson in 1918 in Canada.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Olson was affiliated with the Lutheran Church.
She was an avid skier. She enjoyed cooking, collecting antiques and crafts.
Survivors include her daughter, Gladys Steinlicht of Bend; four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, parents and two grandchildren.
