Rosa (Formoso) Weathers
Dec. 27, 1918 – Dec. 21, 2002
Rosa (Formoso) Weathers of Bend died Saturday of natural causes. She was 83.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Jan. 3 at Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Chapel.
Mrs. Weathers was born Dec. 27, 1918, in Portland to Joseph and Carolina (Quintieri) Formoso. She married Joe Weathers on May 15, 1969, in Portland.
She was affiliated with the Rebecca Lodge, Elks RV Club of Bend, Lady of the Elks, River Benders Good Sam RV Group and Meanderalls Hiking Group. She was a semi-pro bowler and golfer.
Mrs. Weathers enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Lloyd Wright of Fairview; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Delores (Laurie) Jones
June 29, 1930 – Dec. 22, 2002
Delores (Laurie) Jones of Bend died Sunday of cancer. She was 72.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Jones was born June 29, 1930, in Chicago to Bror and Ida (Braun) Oberg. She attended college for two years. She married Raymond Jones on Sept. 15, 1956, in Boulder, Colo.
She was a bookkeeper.
Mrs. Jones was affiliated with the Deschutes Public Library in Bend. She was also a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).
Survivors include her husband of Bend; one son, Kenneth of Oakland, Calif., two daughters, Valerie Roberts of Long Beach, Calif., and Katherine of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Walter Oberg of Tucson, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Oregon Hospice, American Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.

Muriel Annetta (Knudson) Martino
Dec. 3, 1920 – Dec. 20, 2002
Muriel Annetta (Knudson) Martino of Bend died Friday of natural causes. She was 82.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pilot Butte Cemetery.
Mrs. Martino was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Harvey, N.D., to Aflred and Anna (Knudson) Knudson. She married Thomas Martino on Oct. 30, 1937, in Redwood City, Calif.
She enjoyed gardening, horticulture and cooking. She also enjoyed giving to her family and friends.
Mrs. Martino moved to Bend in 1990.
Survivors include her son, Rod of Bend; one daughter, Gloria Trembly of Monterey, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, her parents, a brother and three sisters.

Fern Lillian
(Martin) Vernon
Oct. 18, 1917 – Dec. 23, 2002
Fern Lillian (Martin) Vernon of Prineville died Monday of natural causes. She was 85.
A private service will be held.
Mrs. Vernon was born Oct. 18, 1917, in Missoula, Mont., to Pearl and Rose (Dasher) Martin. She married Dallas Vernon on Dec. 24, 1937, in Klamath Falls.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Vernon enjoyed crafts and jewelry.
Survivors include her daughter, Prudence Hankey of Eugene; companion, George (Pete) Pearson; a brother, Lawson Martin of Napa Valley, Calif.; a sister, Lona Weed of Los Altos, Calif.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.

Lester Tip’ A. Tipton
March 31, 1915 – Dec. 22, 2002
Lester ”Tip” A. Tipton of Eugene died Sunday of age-related causes. He was 87.
A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Major Family Funeral Home.
Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass. Mr. Tipton was born March 31, 1915, in Sublet, Idaho to Avery and Goldie (Offill) Tipton. He married Pearl Murphy on Sept. 26, 1942, in Clark City, Nev.
He served in the Army during World War II as an aerial gunner in the Philippines.
Mr. Tipton worked as a timber faller and forester. He was a former resident of Bend and La Pine.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, country music and rodeos. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Tipton was affiliated with the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of Eugene; two daughters, Elaine Thompson of Springfield and Dianne Duncan of Portland; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Charles Glenn
Tucker
Aug. 8, 1917 – Dec. 21, 2002
Charles Glenn Tucker of Bend died Saturday of natural causes. He was 85.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Mr. Tucker was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Council, Idaho to William and Opal (Hoke) Tucker.
He served in the Army during World War II and Korea. During World War II, he was stationed in the South Pacific and served in Okinawa, Luson, New Guinea, Gaudalcanal, Taiwan, South Korea and Hawaii. He retired as Sergeant First Class after 20 years of service.
Mr. Tucker built the little rock house on Eighth Street in Bend in the late 1940’s. He was a long-time resident of Bend.
He married Lea Lushrenko-Tucker on Dec. 7, 2001, in Bend.
Survivors include his wife; three sisters; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda, his parents and a son.

Lexandria Lexi’ Anne Hansen
July 6, 1955 – Dec. 20, 2002
Lexandria Lexi’ Anne Hansen of Bend died Friday of complications from diabetes. She was 47.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pilot Butte Cemetery. A reception will follow. Call 389-3942 for information.
Ms. Hansen was born July 6, 1955, in LaJolla, Calif., to Kenneth and Lois (Swaim) Collins. After graduating from high school she studied veterinary medicine.
She worked in the veterinary industry for 10 years. She retired in 1997 due to health concerns.
Ms. Hansen enjoyed horseback riding, outdoor activities and fishing. She loved unicorns.
Survivors include her father of Florida; her mother of Escondido, Calif.; two daughters, Jodi Hansen and Krystle Goodwine, both of Bend; one brother, Leyton Collins of Incline Village, Nev.; and two grandchildren.

Ruda Vi’ Viola
Tucker
Dec. 11, 1926 – Dec. 21, 2002
Ruda ”Vi” Viola Tucker of Klamath Falls died Saturday. She was 76.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Ward’s Klamath Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Stevens officiating.
Mrs. Tucker was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Nehalem to Dell and Clara (Biggs) Burdick. She married Wayne Tucker on Aug. 20, 1949, in Tillamook.
She lived in Bend from 1981 to 1985 before moving to Klamath Falls.
Mrs. Tucker was a homemaker.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, painting and spending time with her family. She volunteered at schools when her children were young and served as PTA president.
Survivors include her husband of Klamath Falls; a son, Thomas of of Klamath Falls; a daughter, Tamara Russell of Newberg; two sisters, Arlene Rife of Bend and Jean Damrow of Klamath Falls; and five grandchildren.

Yvonne Edna (Howard) Skaggs

Yvonne Edna (Howard) Skaggs of Bend died Sunday of natural causes. She was 76.
No service will be held.
Mrs. Skaggs was born June 20, 1926, in Homer, Okla., to Purcavil and Mary (Stewart) Howard. She married Walter Skaggs on June 3, 1977, in Reno, Nev.
She worked as a foster care provider.
She moved to Bend from Santa Rosa, Calif., in 1986.
Mrs. Skaggs enjoyed crochet and people.
Survivors include her son, Jim Walkingstick of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Judy Thomas of Bend; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
