Jenny Maria Bianchi-King

Sept. 13, 1951 – May 6, 2003

Jenny Maria Bianchi-King of Crooked River Ranch died May 6 of cancer. She was 51.

No service will be held.

Mrs. Bianchi-King was born Sept. 13, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Konrad and Edith (Lange) Jerkewitz. She married Michael King.

She worked as a registered nurse.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Robert Bianchi Jr., of Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters, Suzanne Bingo and Melissa Bianchi, both of Sacramento; a brother, Hans Jerkewitz of Apex, N.C.; two sisters, Ursula Capewell of Pittsboro, N.C., and Barbara Guske of Walhee, Iowa; and six grandchildren.

Joyce Guy ‘J.G.’ Moore

April 12, 1925 – May 18, 2003

Joyce Guy ”J.G.” Moore of Bend died Sunday of natural causes. He was 78.

A potluck reception will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Robin Moore’s home in Bend.

Mr. Moore was born April 12, 1925, in Osakis, Minn., to Merritt and Clara (Parker) Moore. He married Tennie Eakins on Aug. 18, 1945, in Wichita, Kan.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

Mr. Moore worked for E.E. Steinlicht Construction Co., for many years. He retired in 1987.

He was a member of the Eagles in Bend, American Legion in La Pine and the Carpenter’s Union.

Mr. Moore enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife of Bend; three sons, John of Vancouver, Wash., Thomas of La Pine and Robin of Bend; three daughters, Betty Ell of Waco, Texas, Joy Rose of Prineville and Kelli Hines of Bend; two sisters, Violet Leagjeld of Bend and Pegi Sortor of Fresno, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.

Zella Marie Shephard

Nov. 13, 1926 – May 18, 2003

Zella Marie Shephard of Bend died Sunday of natural causes. She was 76.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at Niswonger, Reynolds Chapel.

Mrs. Shephard was born Nov. 13, 1926, in San Jose, Calif., to Armal and Neva (Knauss) Stump. She married John Shephard on Dec. 31, 1949, in Reno, Nev.

Mrs. Shephard was a homemaker.

Her hobbies included bowling, hunting and fishing. She also enjoyed camping, working in the outdoors and her family.

Survivors include her two sons, Michael of La Pine and Robert of Spokane, Wash.; a daughter, Shannon Coyner of Bend; two brothers, Marvin Stump and Armal Stump, both of Klamath Falls; a sister, Doris Thomas of Jackson, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Arthur Lloyd McGreer

Feb. 9, 1914 – May 16, 2003

Arthur Lloyd McGreer of Clarno died May 16 of natural causes. He was 89.

A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Bel-Air Colonial Chapel. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Antelope Community Church.

Mr. McGreer was born Feb. 9, 1914, in Edgewater, Colo., to Hugh and Irene McGreer. He married Kathryn Kelly on Oct. 22, 1939, in Boise, Idaho.

He was the owner and operator of the McGreer Ranch.

Mr. McGreer enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He also enjoyed his family, his dog and working on his ranch.

Survivors include his son, Kelly of Clarno; a daughter, Patricia of Olympia, Wash.; a brother, Henry of Hood River; a sister, Helen Lewis of Seattle and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fossil Senior Center or Fossil Ambulance Company.

Ellen Jeannene Hetzer

Sept. 11, 1921 – May 11, 2003

Ellen Jeannene Hetzer of Bend died May 11 of natural causes. She was 81.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Deschutes Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Hetzer was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Springfield, Mo., to Charles and Mary (Hubbel) Muse. She grew up and graduated from high school in Springfield. She married Hubert Kelly in 1939 in Vallejo, Calif. She later married Joseph Hetzer in 1945 in Vallejo.

Mrs. Hetzer worked as a retail clerk for Safeway in Vallejo for 25 years. She retired in 1970. She moved to Bend two years ago to be near her family.

She was affiliated with the Foursquare Church in Vallejo. She taught adult Sunday school and helped out with other ministries at her church.

Mrs. Hetzer enjoyed spending time with her family. She was also a seamstress and enjoyed making clothing for family and friends. In addition, she made and sold stuffed animals. Her hobbies included flower gardening, cooking and entertaining.

Survivors include her son Charles of Redding; two daughters, Esther Jackson of Bend and Rose Marie Hernandez of San Diego; a brother, Donald Muse of Mesquite, Nev.; a sister, Rose Davis of Bremerton, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Betty L. Venz

March 5, 1922 – May 16, 2003

Betty L. Venz of Salem died May 16. She was 81.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Discovery Christian Church in Bend.

Mrs. Venz was born March 5, 1922, in Traer, Iowa. She married Vernon Venz on May 1, 1944.

She was a resident of Bend for 45 years.

Survivors include her two daughters, Barbara Kiesow and Carol Adams; a sister, Helen Woock; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to any hospice organization.

Jackalin Thompson

July 24, 1974 – Sept. 1, 2001

Jackalin Thompson of Culver died Sept. 1, 2001. She was 28.

A service was held.

Mrs. Thompson was born July 24, 1974, in England. She attended school at Taft High School in Lincoln City.

She was the owner and operator of a steel fabrication and commercial welding business. She had moved to Culver from Portland where she owned a restaurant, Poppins. At the time of her death, she had started school to be a pediatric message therapist.

Survivors include her two daughters, Alexandria Stafford of Phoenix and Taylor Thompson of Culver; her mother, Colleen Kaady of Phoenix; a brother, Daniel Kaady of Phoenix; and four sisters, Claire Stafford, Christine Jolley and Jessica Kaady, all of Phoenix, and Amanda Freeman of Lincoln City.
