Richard Dick’ Schoenberger

Oct. 8, 1933 – Sept. 8, 2003

Richard ”Dick” Schoenberger of Crescent died Sept. 8 of natural causes. He was 69.

A private service will be held.

Mr. Schoenberger was born Oct. 8, 1933, in Spokane, Wash., to Estel and Martha (Sutherline) Schoenberger. He attended Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane. He married Patricia Niland in 1957 and later married Sharon ”Rusty” Montgomery in 1998.

He served in the military during the Korean War.

Mr. Schoenberger worked for Genuine Parts/Napa for 43 years before retiring in 1997.

He held memberships with the ECU Chapter 13, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2357 in Bouse, Ariz., the American Legion Post 45 in La Pine and the La Pine Moose Lodge 2093.

His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of Crescent; four sons, Michael, David, Richard and Thomas Schoenberger; a daughter, D’Anna McCall; two stepsons, Larry McCoy and Robert Rohlfs Jr.; three stepdaughters, Janette Henry, Lori Brunes and Angela Brown; 11 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Rita Ann Porterfield

Feb. 17, 1936 – Sept. 8, 2003

Rita Ann Porterfield of Fort Rock died Monday in Bend. She was 67.

A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. today at Deschutes Memorial Gardens followed by a funeral at 11 a.m. at Deschutes Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Porterfield was born Feb. 17, 1936, in Mt. Angel. She married Cody Porterfield in 1964 in Salem.

She worked as a farmer and retired in 1996.

Mrs. Porterfield was affiliated with the Fort Rock Community Church.

Survivors include her husband of Fort Rock; three sons, Stanley of Turner; and David Watts and Steven Watts, both of Salem; and three grandchildren.

Helen Souza Davis

Aug. 2, 1924 – Sept. 11, 2003

Helen Souza Davis of Prineville died Thursday of natural causes. She was 79.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville.

Mrs. Davis was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Jackson, Miss., to William and Polly (Wells) Taylor. She married Douglas Davis.

She worked as a secretary and retired in 1978.

Mrs. Davis enjoyed gardening and fine entertainment dining. She also enjoyed her church and spending time with her sons.

Survivors include her husband of La Pine; two sons, Victor Souza of Montebello, Calif., and Larry Souza of Bend; a sister, Ruth Miller of Olympia, Wash., five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
