John Boyle, a La Pine resident who unsuccessfully sought election to the Deschutes County Commission in 1996 and 1998, will try again, according to papers filed with the county clerk’s office.
Boyle, who filed to run as a Democrat, will face off against former police officer Randy Gordon in the May 18 primary. Three Republicans – television talk show host Andy Andrews, Redmond City Councilor Rick Nowak and Johnny Corbin, a maintenance technician – have filed to run in the primary against incumbent Commissioner Mike Daly.
Reached at his home in La Pine, Boyle declined to comment on his candidacy. He said he didn’t have time for an interview this week, adding he would stand behind his previous campaign platforms.
In 1998, Boyle, who listed his occupation as a property manager who used to work in the film industry in California, said he felt all county commissioners should ensure residents are treated ”in a fair and just manner,” according to information he supplied the county clerk for the voters’ pamphlet.
In addition, he accused the incumbent commission of pursuing an agenda of ”nepotism and favoritism”
