Ray Dulaney

Dec. 16, 1927 – March 8, 2004

Ray Dulaney of Metolius died Monday of natural causes. He was 76.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Round Butte Cemetery.

Mr. Dulaney was born Dec. 16, 1927, in Mt. Grove, Mo., to James and Lele (Nicholson) Dulaney. He served in the Army as a corporal during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952.

Mr. Dulaney married Fayetta on April 23, 1955, in Reno, Nev.

He worked as a delivery man for Doxel Gas Corporation and was a member of Madras BPOE #2017. He also served as a city councilor in Metolius from 1973 to 1991. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, golfing and working in his garden.

Survivors include his daughter, Arlene Remien of Brookings; two brothers, J.D. of Metolius and Walt of Reno, Nev.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Peter John Alwinger

June 8, 1920 – March 10, 2004

Peter John Alwinger of Bend died Wednesday of natural causes. He was 83.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today, March 12, at Niswonger, Reynolds Funeral Home in Bend. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Bend.

Mr. Alwinger was born June 8, 1920, in Saskatchewan, Canada, to Ben and Elizabeth (Sali) Alwinger. He served in the Navy during World War II and married Grace (Nelson) Alwinger on Dec. 14, 1942, in Portland.

Mr. Alwinger worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Bend until his retirement in 1976. He later worked for Backstrom Lumber for several years.

Mr. Alwinger was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Bend Eagles and Bend VFW.

His hobbies included dancing, camping and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of Bend; a son, Philip of Bend; five daughters, Judy Johnson of Bend, Teresa Cusic of Hillsboro, Sandra Rector of Eugene, Mary Berackman of Bend, and Renee Lanter of Bend; a brother, Leonard of Portland; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister.
