Bernice Shearer Simonsen of Bend died Saturday of natural causes. She was 80.

A private service will be held.

Mrs. Simonsen was born March 31, 1924, in Leach Lake, Minn., to Arthur and Freda (Crinic) Hamlin. She moved to Bend in 1952 and married Donald Simonsen on Oct. 27, 1961, in Reno, Nev.

Mrs. Simonsen worked at the Pine Tavern for 12 years and at Pilot Butte Inn for a short time.

She enjoyed reading and animals.

Survivors include her husband of Bend; three sons, Ray of Bend and Merle and Doug, both of Portland; a daughter, Lisa Johnson of Kenosha, Wisc.; a brother, Ben Hamlin of Pendleton; a sister, Betty Bisti of New Jersey; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter.
