Rodger Julius Hall

Nov. 16, 1938-June 6, 2004

Rodger Julius Hall of Sisters died Sunday in a horse riding accident. He was 65.

Visitations will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at Autumn Funerals in Redmond. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, at Sisters Christian Church, followed by a burial at Camp Polk Cemetery.

Mr. Hall was born Nov. 16, 1938, in Oconto, Wisc., to Everett and Della (Champagne) Hall. As a youth, he was a singer and recording artist and won many talent contests in California and Oregon.

In 1967, Mr. Hall became an ordained minister for the Christian Church. He started a church in Marcola and went on to pastor seven more churches in Missouri, Montana, Hawaii and Oregon.

Mr. Hall earned his pilot’s license in 1980 and served as a reserve police officer with the Sisters police from 1969 to 1970.

He received many degrees in Christianity through Moody Bible Institute and the American Association of Christian Councillors.

Mr. Hall was the founder and pastor of Christ’s Church of New Beginnings in Sisters.

Survivors include his wife of Sisters; three sons, Rodger Halston of Malibu, Calif., Joel of Redmond and Shane of Apache, Okla.; a daughter, Cheurice Rhoades of Sunriver; a brother, Doyle of Marcola; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made at the Bank of the Cascades in Sisters or Redmond or at U.S. Bank in Redmond or Bend.

Robert Bob’ S. Bordner Jr.

Jan. 26, 1922-June 5, 2004

Robert ”Bob” S. Bordner Jr. of Bend died Saturday of natural causes. He was 82.

No services are planned.

Mr. Bordner was born Jan. 26, 1922, in Lancaster, Pa., to Robert Sr. and Jeannette Bordner. He served in the Navy during World War II as a medic.

He married ”Effie” Yohn.

Mr. Bordner earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Oregon. He worked as an administrator for the North Bend School District for 35 years and retired in 1984.

He enjoyed reading and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, Robert III of Seattle; a daughter, Marty Fisher of Bend; a brother, Richard of Newark, Del.; a sister, Jeanne Dill of Leesburg, Va.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother.

Jeffrey Allen Jordan

Aug. 31, 1956-June 5, 2004

Jeffrey Allen Jordan of Bend died Saturday of cancer. He was 47.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 11, at the Deschutes Brewery Mountain Room in Bend.

Mr. Jordan was born Aug. 31, 1956, in The Dalles to Roy and Toni (Haugen) Jordan. He attended college for two years and then served eight years in the national guard.

He married Melissa (Spinden) Jordan on June 21, 1997.

Mr. Jordan was a mill worker and enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, gardening and going to the beach.

Survivors include his wife of Bend; mother; two sons, Fred and Ryan, both of Bend; two stepsons Jeremy Spinden and Jason Spinden, both of Bend; four brothers, Michael of Phoenix, Ariz., Joel and Robert, both of Salem, and Dave of Bend; four sisters, Sue Kollen of Eugene, Joshlyn Wolf of Salem, Julie Mueller of Healdsburg, Calif., and Diane Vanwert of Redmond.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepfather.

James Bernard McPherson

Oct. 15, 1941-June 2, 2004

James Bernard McPherson of Prineville died June 2 of natural causes. He was 62.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at 632 NW Reatap Road in Prineville.

Mr. McPherson was born Oct. 15, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Frank and Marion (Ferguson) McPherson. He grew up and attended school in Hasting, Minn. He served in the Army for three years.

He married Velma in Lawton, Okla., on June 5, 1964. They moved to Eugene where he worked at Spear Jackson and as a saw filer. He moved to Prineville in 1980.

Mr. McPherson was a member of the Eagles Club.

Survivors include his wife of Prineville; two sons, Jim of Sweet Home and Bill of Prineville; a daughter, Sandra Yarbrough of Prineville; two brothers, Son of Bend and Doug of California; two sisters, Bonnie of Washington and Mary Beach; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Margaret Kulow

Jan. 28, 1915-June 5, 2004

Margaret Kulow of Prineville died Saturday of natural causes. She was 89.

No services are planned.

Mrs. Kulow was born Jan. 28, 1915, in Chicago to Edward and Judith (Juricek) Votava. She grew up and attended schools in Chicago.

She married Leo Kiewicz in Chicago in 1934 and later married Fred Kulow in Kauai, Hawaii.

She moved to Prineville in 1998.

Mrs. Kulow enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling and sports.

Survivors include her son, Edward Kiewicz of Carson City, Nev.; two daughters, Joyce Wood of La Pine and Karen Stewart of Doniphan, Mo.; a brother, Richard Votava of Marseilles, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her second husband, parents and a sister.

Norma J. Maynard

May 8, 1923-June 3, 2004

Norma J. Maynard of La Pine died Thursday. She was 81.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 11 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Mrs. Maynard was born May 8, 1923, in Gales Creek to Norman and Fanchon (Truitt) Lilly. She grew up in Gales Creek and attended Forest Grove Union High School.

She married James Maynard on Nov. 17, 1939, in Vancouver, Wash.

Mrs. Maynard worked as a circuit board technician. She was a founding member of the La Pine Moose Lodge.

Her interests included fishing, hunting, camping, clamming and other outdoor activities. She also enjoyed spending time in Yuma, Ariz., during the winter.

Survivors include her son, James of La Pine; a daughter, Karen Conn of La Pine; a sister, Barbara Pearson of Portland; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Keith Allen Williams

May 25, 1952-June 4, 2004

Keith Allen Williams of Prineville died Friday. He was 52.

A private service will be held.

Mr. Williams was born May 25, 1952, in Prineville to Aarol and Agnes (Mogck) Williams.

He went to school in Prineville and graduated from Crook County High School.

His hobbies included watching television, reading, spending time outdoors and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his sister, Alana Porfily of Prineville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lillie Lil’ M. Ulmer

June 24, 1922-March 22, 2004

Lillie ”Lil” M. Ulmer of Oxnard, Calif., died March 22. She was 82.

No services are planned.

Mrs. Ulmer was born June 24, 1922, in Graham, Texas.

In 1984 she retired to Bend, where she lived until 1999.

Survivors include her son, Richard; four daughters, Patricia Davis of Broken Arrow, Okla., Carol Simonson of Benicia, Calif., Cynthia Roberts of Aurora, Colo., Beverly Greenley of Ventura, Calif.; a brother, James Harvey of Terlton, Okla.; a sister, Janice Singer of Klamath Falls; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son.

Robert Pat’ Winnop

June 1, 1925-June 3, 2004

Robert ”Pat” Winnop of Bend died June 3 of natural causes. He was 79.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Harmony Hills Dining Hall in Bend.

Mr. Winnop was born June 1, 1925, in Roseburg to Hiram and Alpha Winnop.

He served as an aviation technician in the Navy during World War II. He married Gail Wilson-Winnop on March 10, 2004, in Bend.

Mr. Winnop worked as a logger and heavy duty mechanic for Winnop Logging for 10 years in Estacada and was also a farmer in Terrebonne.

Mr. Winnop was a member of VFW Post 7242, American Legion 0045, and the Church of Christ.

His hobbies included hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed all sports.

Survivors include his wife of Bend; a son, Richard of La Pine; two stepsons, Gary Zimmerman of Las Vegas and Michael Zimmerman of Bend; a daughter, Vicki Winnop Eberth of Salem; two sisters, Betty Elsele of Colorado and Marjorie Ciantio of Ukiah, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, five sisters, and four brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Bend-La Pine or the American Cancer Society.

Charles Davis

May 8, 1935-June 7, 2004

Charles Davis of Lake Oswego died Monday of heart disease. He was 69.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, at Lincoln Memorial Park in Portland.

Mr. Davis was born May 8, 1935, in Bend to William and Mary Davis. His family moved to Portland in the 1950s and he graduated from Franklin High School in 1953.

He was married to Carol for 48 years.

Mr. Davis worked as a building contractor in Portland and Central Oregon for over 40 years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Scott; four daughters, Cyndi, Terri, Susie Stewart and Penny Waldron; two brothers, Bill of North Bend, Wash., and John of Sandy; and 12 grandchildren.
