Juanita McInnis

Sept. 19, 1923 – Oct. 18, 2004

Juanita McInnis of Bend died Monday of natural causes. She was 81.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at High Desert Assisted Living in Bend.

Mrs. McInnis was born Sept. 19, 1923, in Bedford, Ky., to William and Stella Bryant. She married Thomas McInnis. She later married Wilbur McInnis.

She was a waitress and a restaurant owner.

Mrs. McInnis was affiliated with The Red’s Coach Inn Gang. She enjoyed her family, friends and animals. She liked dog- and horse-racing and dining out. She also loved to sing gospel songs.

Survivors include her son, Thomas of Scapoose; a daughter, Peggy Carey of Bend; a sister, Harriette Thomas of Charlotte, N.C.; and a grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands and a son.

Autumn Funerals is in charge of arrangements.

Frankie G. Adams

Feb. 10, 1924 – Oct. 21, 2004

Frankie G. Adams of Bend died Thursday of natural causes. She was 80.

A private service will be held.

Mrs. Adams was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Asherton, Texas, to Matt and Edna (Brown) Brown. She was the salutatorian at her high school in Asherton and attended a year of college. Mrs. Adams served in the Women’s Army Corps (WACS) during World War II. She married Jonathan Adams on May 1, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Mrs. Adams was a homemaker. She also worked as a secretary for the Oregon State Health and Human Services agency.

She enjoyed bowling, reading and her great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Daryl Adams of Corvallis; a daughter, Judy Daniel of Redmond; a sister, Mattie Fulcher of San Antonio; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Charles Rehab Center, 2500 NE Neff Road, Bend.

Steven M. Now

Dec. 2, 1948 – Oct. 20, 2004

Steven M. Now of Bend died Wednesday of colon cancer. He was 55.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at First United Methodist Church, 680 NW Bond St., in Bend.

Mr. Now was born Dec. 2, 1948, in Xenia, Ohio, to Myron and Majorie (Woerl) Now. He graduated from Henley High School in 1966 and attended Southern Oregon College. He married Marilyn on Dec. 4, 1980, in Golden, Colo.

He was a police officer for 33 years. He was a sergeant for the police department in Richland, Va., and Lakewood, Colo.

Mr. Now was affiliated with the Fraternal Order of Police, the Democratic Party, the Sierra Club, the World Life Fund and the Methodist Church.

He was a conservationist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He liked to hike, ski, canoe and garden. He also enjoyed writing and painting.

Survivors include his wife of Bend; a son, McKenzie Now of Montana; three daughters, Chelsea Now of Bend, Stacy Burgman of Lakewood, Colo., and Sarah Burgman of Denver; his parents; two brothers, Ed of Lakeview and Gary of Spokane, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
