Alpha Alphie’ Burton
July 10, 1919 – Nov. 3, 2004
Alpha ”Alphie” Burton of Prineville died Wednesday. She was 85.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today, Nov. 6, at Redmond Cemetery.
Mrs. Burton was born July 10, 1919, in Shady Point, Okla., to Charles and Rebecca (Hall) Woods. She attended school through the eighth grade. She married Harvey Burton.
She was a nursing assistant at Redmond Care Center.
Mrs. Burton enjoyed flowers, her pets and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her three daughters, Betty Land of Prineville, Marilyn Barker of Veneta and Alice Wonderly of Redmond; a sister, Betty (Myrtle) Tarbell of Orosi, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son.
Prineville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Dean Toline
Aug. 1, 1931 – Nov. 2, 2004
Kenneth Dean Toline of Sisters died Tuesday. He was 73.
A graveside service was held Friday, Nov. 5, at Rest Lawn Memorial Park in Junction City. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 12, at the Sisters Church of the Nazarene, 67130 Harrington Loop Road, Sisters, OR 97759.
Mr. Toline was born Aug. 1, 1931, in Osceola, Neb., to Abel and Leola (Cook) Toline. He graduated from Triangle Lakes School. He married Loletta Syphers on May 24, 1953.
Mr. Toline served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a lineman for Blachly-Lane Electric Co-op. He enjoyed yard work, flower gardening and listening to country music.
Survivors include two daughters, Deanna Fassbender and Leah Barnes, both of Eugene; and a sister, Lois Cabin of Junction City.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a grandson.

Ben L. Kuehn
April 15, 1920 – Nov. 1, 2004
Ben L. Kuehn of Terrebonne died Monday of cancer. He was 84.
No service will be held.
Mr. Kuehn was born April 15, 1920, in Garden Home to Benjamin and Suzan Kuehn. He married Ann on April 24, 1956, in North Bonneville.
He sold heavy equipment.
Mr. Kuehn enjoyed RV traveling, reading and gold mining.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Butler of Oregon and Dixie Gannon of Forest Grove; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Roger Eugene Sherman
Aug. 20, 1916 – Nov. 3, 2004
Roger Eugene Sherman of Redmond died Wednesday. He was 88.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, Nov. 6, at Highland Southern Baptist Church in Redmond.
Mr. Sherman was born Aug. 20, 1916, in Pitman, N.J., to Eugene and Lelia Sherman. After graduating from high school in New Jersey, he joined the Conservation Corps. He married Marjorie Hager on March 28, 1942.
Mr. Sherman worked in the lumber industry. He retired in 1975.
He was affiliated with the Sunday School Union and a member of the Southern Baptist Church.
Mr. Sherman’s hobbies included wood working and repairing appliances. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; a son, John; three daughters, Diane Sherman, Elaine Kelley and Mary McNeil; a sister, Helen Connel; and 13 grandchildren.

Marcile Elaine Discher
July 18, 1927 – Nov. 5, 2004
Marcile Elaine Discher of La Pine died Friday of natural causes. She was 77.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at Autumn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Discher was born July 18, 1927, in Portland to Donald and Wanda Ward. She married Robert Discher on Dec. 12, 1971, in Montenaso, Wash.
She was a housewife and gardener. She enjoyed flowers, reading and her family.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Robert Burger; a daughter, Karen Milliman; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Abbigol Grant
Dec. 3, 1917 – Oct. 29, 2004
Mary Abbigol Grant of Culver died Oct. 29 of natural causes. She was 86.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bend.
Mrs. Grant was born Dec. 3, 1917, in Kelliher, Minn., to Stephen and Mary (Chambers) Siegel. She married Art Wolfe on June 8, 1936, in Bryant, S.D. She married John Grant on Oct. 28, 1961, in Hermiston.
Mrs. Grant was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, crafts, gardening and time with family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Walt Wolfe of Madras; three stepsons, John Grant of Medford, Uhl Grant of Chicago and Bob Grant of Wyoming, Del.; two daughters, Joyce Allison of Beaverton and Elaine Heffelfinger of Raphine, Va.; a stepdaugher, Irene Holtz of Ione; 27 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, a stepdaughter, a brother and a sister.
