Samuel Emery Watson

April 5, 1910 – Nov. 13, 2004

Samuel Emery Watson of Madras died Saturday of natural causes. He was 94.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, at Mount Jefferson Memorial Park in Madras.

Mr. Watson was born April 5, 1910, in Fowler, Colo., to Samuel E. and Vena (Robb) Watson. He married Charlotte Johnson on Sept. 17, 1965.

Mr. Watson served during World War II. He worked as a postal carrier until his retirement in 1968.

He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and the Musician Union of Eugene. He enjoyed gardening and music.

Survivors include his wife of Madras; two sons, Gerald Watson and William Preston, both of Madras; a daughter, Laurel Preston of Madras; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Charles Terry Hickey

Nov. 26, 1953 – Nov. 13, 2004

Charles Terry Hickey of Redmond died Saturday. He was 50.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 20, at Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home in Redmond.

Mr. Hickey was born Nov. 26, 1953, in Muncie, Ind., to Charles and Norma (Nelson) Hickey. He married Susan Larson on Sept. 27, 1996, in Bend.

Mr. Hickey worked in wholesale sales. He enjoyed restoring vintage cars, building model cars and collecting die-cast cars and Harley-Davidson memorabilia.

Survivors include his wife, of Redmond; a daughter, Lori Hickey of Eugene; a stepson, Chad Morton of Tigard; a brother, Arrlen Hickey of Lodi, Calif.; two sisters, Shirley Pringle of Joshua Tree, Calif., and Barbara Love of Lincoln City; and three grandchildren.

Evelyn Trudy’ Russell

March 4, 1952 – Nov. 14, 2004

Evelyn ”Trudy” Russell of Bend died Sunday of natural causes. She was 52.

Services were held.

Ms. Russell was born March 4, 1952, in Pendleton to Clarence and Feryl (Frey) Moore. She graduated from Lone High School in Lone.

Ms. Russell worked as a waitress. She later worked as an information assistant for the Forest Service in Vancouver, Wash.

She enjoyed camping, being a rockhound, touring Mount St. Helens, cooking and making candy.

Survivors include three sons, David of Fircrest, Wash., Richard of Tacoma, Wash., and Bradley of Vancouver, Wash.; two daughters, Stephanie Kmetova and Angela Kmetova, both of Tacoma, Wash.; a brother, Robert Moore of Athens, Ohio; four sisters, Daisy Lydy of Bend, Lila Romp and Betty Rayl, both of Stanfield, and Dorothy Zinter of Hermiston; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Esther Eveline Golden

Aug. 22, 1926 – Nov. 15, 2004

Esther Eveline Golden of Bend died Monday of natural causes. She was 78.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, at Deschutes Memorial Gardens in Bend.

Mrs. Golden was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Matewan, W.Va., to James and Martha (Crane) Fisher. She married Bill Golden on Jan. 16, 1953, in Albany.

Mrs. Golden enjoyed reading, watching TV and gambling.

Survivors include a brother, John Fisher of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Lorraine Spencer of Bend and Ida Risz of Prineville; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons.

Rita Lorene Landis

Sept. 5, 1921 – Nov. 14, 2004

Rita Lorene Landis of Crooked River Ranch died Sunday of cancer. She was 83.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 19, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Mrs. Landis was born Sept. 5, 1921, in Adams County, Iowa, to Dick and Hannah (Hinrichs) Heye. She married Wayne Clifford Landis in St. Francis, Kan.

Mrs. Landis worked as a waitress and a cook. She enjoyed painting, making doll clothes and taking care of animals. Mrs. Landis voluntarily housed neglected children.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Sandra Gray of Estacada; a sister, Jeannie Marrapo of Menlo Park, Calif.; and one stepgrandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Richard E. Dick’ Lingle

June 13, 1932 – Nov. 11, 2004

Richard E. ”Dick” Lingle of La Pine died Thursday of a heart attack. He was 72.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., today, Nov. 17, at Living Word Praise Center, 51491 Morson St., La Pine.

Mr. Lingle was born June 13, 1932, in Portland to Earl DeForest and Cora Hazel (Tucker) Lingle. He married Gloria Anderson on Aug. 7, 1982, in Hillsboro.

Mr. Lingle served in the Army. He worked as a deputy sheriff and sergeant in Washington County, until his retirement in 1987.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Forest Grove, and the La Pine American Legion and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting and camping.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Terry, Marty and David, all of Portland; a daughter, Denise Rosenthal of Portland; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Lucile Corradini

May 11, 1915 – Nov. 13, 2004

Lucile Corradini of Bend died Saturday of natural causes. She was 89.

Private services will be held.

Mrs. Corradini was born May 11, 1915, in Springfield, Ill., to Harry and Florence (Berry) Brothers. She married Frank Corradini on March 11, 1939, in Yuma, Ariz.

Mrs. Corradini was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, arts and crafts.

Survivors include two sons, Richard of Riverside, Calif., and Gary of Blanco, Texas; a daughter, Dixie of Bend; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.

George William Gurney

Nov. 1, 1930 – Nov. 15, 2004

George William Gurney of Prineville died Monday. He was 74.

A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, at Whispering Pines Funeral Home, 185 NE Fourth St., Prineville. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 19, at Prineville Church of the Nazarene, 780 E First St., Prineville.

Mr. Gurney was born Nov. 1, 1930, in Snowville, Utah, to Edgar and Ethel (Goss) Gurney. He married Dorothy Gurney on June 21, 1958, in Junction City.

Mr. Gurney was a logger. He was a member of the Franklin Christian Church. He enjoyed farming, cattle, walking the fence line, driving the loop and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of Prineville; five daughters, Loise Donohue of Elko, Nev., Linda Hernandez of Prineville, Georgia Chandler of Prineville, Geraldine Whitton of Redmond and Maryann Demaris of Junction City; a brother, Dick of Prineville; a sister, Ettie Kent of Eugene; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
