The Crook County Parks and Recreation Department is offering a five-session hunters’ education class in April. The class, taught by Stew Butts, will focus on safe gun-handling skills. Participants must pass a written exam and field test in order to obtain a hunter’s education card – a requirement for youth to legally hunt wild game in Oregon.

The classroom sessions will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Crook County Middle School on April 8, 10, 15 and 17. The field test will be held April 12 and youth must be accompanied by an adult.

Cost is $10 and the registration deadline is 5 p.m. on April 4. Participants must be at least 11 years old to register. For more information, contact Crook County Parks and Recreation District at 447-1209.
