The downtown branch of the Bend Post Office on Oregon Avenue will open its doors for the last time on Friday, according to a release from the postal service.

A temporary branch, located at 51 Louisiana Avenue, will open Tuesday, Feb. 22, and will provide retail services and post office box delivery until a permanent location for a downtown branch is found.

The new branch will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mail that has not been picked up from the downtown location by Friday will be available at the main branch on Fourth Street, the release reported.

A renewal project in downtown Bend is forcing the move.
