A cat named ”Oreo” escaped serious injury despite being hung by the neck from a tree on Monday, according to a news release from the Bend Police Department.
A resident of the Native Sun Apartments in Bend discovered the cat and rescued the animal before contacting the police, according to the release. Oreo – who had also apparently been colored with a marker before being hung from the tree – was treated at an emergency veterinary service and housed at the Humane Society until her owner, a resident of the apartment complex, was able to retrieve her.
The Bend Police Department is investigating.
