West Albany squeaks to title in Redmond

REDMOND – West Albany edged Redmond by one stroke to earn the victory at the Panther Invitational boys golf tournament at the Eagle Crest Ridge Course at Eagle Crest Resort on Saturday.

The Bulldogs’ team score of 307 overtook the 308 shot by the Panthers. Pendleton shot a 318, followed by Lincoln’s 329, Barlow’s 343 and Hermiston’s 347.

Redmond’s Joe Heisler shared medalist honors with West Albany’s Ben Bryant at 72.

Andrew Fitch (75), Mychal Denney (80), Alex Fitch (81) and Michael Reeve (82) rounded out the Panthers’ scorecard. Andrew Fitch tied two other golfers for third place overall.

”We must continue to improve. I think we’re capable of shooting much lower scores,” said Redmond coach Ron Buerger.
