Central Oregon Community College’s Continuing Education Program is offering a mountain bike techniques class.The class emphasizes fun, safety and off-road riding techniques while exploring the back roads of Bend with instructor Brad Boyd.The class meets Wednesdays from May 25 through June 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Bend. Cost is $45. To register, call COCC Continuing Education, 383-7270.The basic skills of kayaking including terminology, basic strokes and maneuvers, and boating safety will be the topic of a COCC continuing education class.Participants will be introduced to river reading, beginning whitewater techniques and exiting an overturned kayak. This course is for those who have never paddled before, or have never had formal instruction.Classroom session meets from 7 to 9 p.m. on June 1 at COCC’s BEC Room 153. Outdoor sessions on moving water meet on June 4 from 3 to 6 p.m. and on June 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Alder Creek, 805 SW Industrial Way, Suite 6. Cost is $139. To register, call 383-7270.
