Built to Spill

No use crying about it, but Built to Spill’s anticipated June 8 concert has been postponed, according to concert promoter Bret Grier of Random Presents.

A member of the Boise-based indie rock act apparently booked studio time on the same day another booked the Bend date, according to Grier, who says to look for a rescheduled date in the fall, after the anticipated release of the next Built to Spill album. According to the band’s Web site, the ”new songs all rock,” so there’s that to look forward to.

Foghorn at McMenamins

Portland revivalists the Foghorn Stringband will visit McMenamins Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St., Bend, for a 7 p.m. show Wednesday.

The band’s instrumentation includes fiddle, banjo, mandolin, bass and guitar – everything it needs to reproduce those old-time radio strains it so prefers. In fact, the group has recently been invited to perform with Dirk Powell by – three guesses – yep, Dirk Powell, one of traditional American music’s more renowned keepers.

Admission is free, but limited to those 21 and over.

Best Damn Rap Tour

With a tour name like that, the artists behind the mics better live up to the hype. From all appearances, J-Live, Vast Aire and C-Rayz Walz will do that when their Best Damn Rap Tour 2005 hits The Grove June 10.

C-Rayz Walz’s bio name checks Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Chuck D, Ice Cube, Eminem and others in its comparisons of Walz to rap’s greats.

That’s just for starters. J-Live’s bio boasts that he is ”one of the most talented MCs on the planet.” Vast Aire, for his part, has ”sliced up a lot of emcees.”

Tickets for this 21-and-over show are $10 at the door at The Grove, 1033 NW Bond St., Bend. Doors open at 9 p.m.
