What: Regal Old Mill Stadium 16

When: Planned opening in September

Where: 680 SW Powerhouse Drive, Bend, in the Old Mill District

Who: Regal Entertainment Group

How Much: Russ Nunley, Regals vice president of marketing and communications, declined to release specific costs but said the National Association of Theatre Owners puts the average cost of one state-of-the-art screen at $1 million.

Details: Regal Entertainment Group is adding six screens to its complex in Bends Old Mill District. The current Regal Old Mill 10 opened five years ago.

Were installing state-of-the-art theaters with stadium seating, wall-to-wall screens and digital sound, Nunley said. Given the amount of response weve seen from moviegoers in Bend, it was time to expand.

Nunley said the new screens in the Old Mill District would not affect operations at Regals Pilot Butte 6 cinema on the east side.

This is an opportunity to bring in more film titles as well as more showtimes of specific films for greater convenience, he said.

Regal operates more than 6,000 screens at more than 550 locations in 40 states.
