SWEET HOME – Six different players scored goals Wednesday afternoon as Sisters posted an 11-0 victory against overmatched Sweet Home in a Class 3A-2A-1A Special District 8 league contest.

The Outlaws (4-0 league, 6-3 overall) scored eight goals in the first half, then played short-handed in the second half to make the game more competitive.

It was the sixth straight win for Sisters, whose losses came at the hands of Class 4A schools Mountain View and Summit and 3A-2A-1A state-ranked Valley Catholic.

Liz Dale scored three goals to help lead the Outlaws. McKenzie Williams, Kelly Morton and Rose Slavkovsky scored two goals apiece, and Nahtice Nield and Jenna Sneva each added one goal.

Sisters is set to play a key league contest Monday afternoon against Western Mennonite in Salem.

The first-year Hawks program lost for the first time as the host Lava Bears rolled to the win. Freshman Maria Ramirez scored in the second half for La Pine (1-1-3 overall). ”Basically, Bend played exceptionally well and we didn’t have a response for it,” said La Pine coach Scott Winslow. ”But it was nice to play a really good 4A team, and we continue to improve.” The Hawks play the Redmond junior varsity squad next Wednesday afternoon.

Amanda Zubrick – the lone girl on the Central Christian team – scored her second goal of the day with about a minute to play to earn a tie for the visiting White Tigers in a non-league boys soccer match. Aaron Phillips scored two goals and was credited with two assists for Central Christian (1-5-1 overall), which countered each Bend goal with one of its own. Cade Fox also scored for the White Tigers, and Central Christian coach Ron Zubrick said freshman fullback Christian Johnson ”played the game of his life on defense.” The White Tigers return to action next Wednesday at Redmond against the Panther JVII squad.
