Washington greed

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He lives in a magical place far to the east called the White House. His name is George W. Bush. He takes from the poor and gives to the rich. He provides bountiful and record profits for the gas and oil barrens. He awards no contract bids to companies like Halliburton so they can also have obscene profits. He says: ”Trust them (big business) to do the right thing.” Now pension plans and jobs can be cut so a few can receive even greater gifts. Yes, Virginia: Enron, Tyco and those other big businesses had the interests of the American people as their first concern.

Take heart, Virginia, Santa understands it is better to give than receive and you, like the rest of us, will be giving for years and years. A gift that keeps on going and going and going.
