George Cheshire of Redmond died Friday of complications resulting from surgery. He was 79.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Juniper Golf Club in Redmond.

Mr. Cheshire was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Dallas to George and Mary Cheshire. He attended Black Hills Teachers College in South Dakota. He married Jean Cheshire on July 29, 1965, in Portland.

Mr. Cheshire worked as an educator until he retired in 1987. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, skiing, golf and wood carving.

Survivors include his wife and a son, Terry of Snohomish, Wash.

He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and a sister.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Redmond School District athletic department.
