INSTRUCTION
March 13-19 PGA professional Scott Cravens of Crooked River Ranch hosts the Double Down Invitational golf tournament at Primm Valley Golf Course near Las Vegas. Two-person format tournament open to any player with an established USGA handicap that combines Stableford points to assure fair play. Daily awards for KPs and points. Entry fee of $475 includes lodging, three rounds of golf, cart and balls. For more information contact Scott Cravens at 610-7108.
April 17-19 Bend Metro Park and Recreation District adult (coed) golf lessons taught by PGA professional Bob Garza at Lost Tracks Golf Club in Bend. Series of three lessons designed for beginners or anyone interested in improving his or her game. Focus will be on full swing, stance, grip, putting, club selection and golf etiquette. Bring your own clubs, or equipment will be provided. Lessons run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Cost is $50 for park district residents, $67 otherwise. March 5 Polar Bear Open at Meadow Lakes Golf Course, in Prineville. This 18-hole tournament includes divisions for individual gross and net by flights. Shotgun start at 10 a.m. Cash hole-in-one prize of $10,000. Entry fee is $15. To enter, call the the Meadow Lakes Golf Shop at 447-7113.
March 11 Desert Peaks Golf Club Winter Jackpot is a two-person best-ball format tournament. The 18-hole event begins at 11 a.m. Cost: $30 and includes greens fees and lunch. March 11-12 Coca-Cola Invitational hosted by the Oregon section of the Pacific Northwest chapter of the Professional Golf Association at Kah-Nee-Ta Resort in Warm Springs. Pro-amateur format tournament for five players (one gross, two net). Cost is $750 per team or $150 per player and includes a practice round. Entries close Friday, March 3. May 16 Second annual Van Go! Golf Tournament, hosted by Arts Central at Widgi Creek Golf Club in Bend. Morning shotgun scramble for women golfers of all abilities. Registration fee is $90 and includes continental breakfast, range balls, carts, golf, luncheon and prizes. The tournament is a benefit for the Van Go! mobile art studio in Central Oregon.
