Caldera celebrates 10th anniversary

Caldera, which runs the Caldera arts center outside of Sisters, turns 10 next month, and is planning an ”auction-free” eve-ning to celebrate.

The fundraiser, to be held June 24, will focus on the ”family” the center has grown over the years, through its youth arts education and artists-in-residency programs.

Exhibits of artwork by past participants of both programs are planned, as well as an elegant, family-style dinner created by the chefs of Simpatica, a Portland catering company. The menu will highlight regional and indigenous foods, such as cedar plank-cooked salmon, and includes appetizers from the Jackalope Grill in Bend.

The evening will also include musical entertainment from the Portland band 3LegTorso.

Individual tickets are $125 and tables for 10 are $1,000.

Also, a breakfast and an open house are planned at the center, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 25. The meal costs $15, and will be prepared by Tom and Connie Derry, the former owners of the Blue Lake Resort’s Alpine Restaurant and Country Store. The resort closed after it was purchased by Caldera.

The Caldera arts center is located on the shores of Blue Lake, a small lake just west of Suttle Lake. Contact: (503) 937-7877.
