Anthony’s Homeport Bend

You can imagine a restaurant with its own wholesale seafood company is serious about its salmon and shellfish.

Such is Anthony’s, a Washington-based family of restaurants that has become synonymous with seafood in the Puget Sound. Consisting of 23 restaurants mostly surrounding the Puget Sound, Anthony’s opened its first Oregon location at The Shops at the Old Mill District in Bend.

Overlooking the Deschutes River across from the Les Schwab Amphitheater, Anthony’s Homeport Bend may be farther from the ocean than most of its locations, but distance won’t deter the restaurant’s commitment to offering the freshest seafood possible, said Lane Hoss, vice president of marketing.

Highlights from the menu include Alaskan Wild Chinook Salmon, roasted on an Alder plank and topped with red pepper beurre blanc with Yukon Gold garlic mashed potatoes, pan-fried Willapa Bay oysters, and whole Dungeness crab, cooked daily and served Whidbey Island style.

All of Anthony’s fish are wild and no farmed fish products are used, Hoss said.

For diners preferring ”turf” instead of ”surf,” New York, filet mignon and top sirloin steaks are available.

Each entree is served with either a cup of clam chowder or a salad and a basket of freshly baked sourdough bread from Bend’s DiLusso bakery.

A trademark of Anthony’s realized in the new Bend location is the open kitchen. From any spot in the dining room, visitors can peer into the kitchen to watch an army of white-coated chefs searing ahi or blackening cod.

”The open kitchen helps create a lot of energy,” Hoss said, ”and ties the dining room and kitchen together.”

The outdoor patio holds space for 80 patrons along the river. The patio includes firepits for cool nights, and Hoss said blankets will also be made available.

”We feature fresh Northwest seafood complemented by Northwest produce and Northwest wines and beers,” Hoss said. ”Each of our restaurants are different, but the dedication to the Northwest is there.”
