A four-run seventh inning rallied the visiting Wenatchee AppleSox to a 5-3 victory over the Bend Elks in West Coast Collegiate Baseball League action Tuesday night.

The Elks had broken a 1-1 deadlock by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, seizing a short-lived 3-1 lead – much to the delight of a season-high crowd of 1,638 on a hot, early-summer night at Vince Genna Stadium.

Both squads got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning, when each team scored one run.

Joey Wong was the only Bend player with multiple hits, going two for three (two singles) and driving in one run.

The Elks (4-7 WCCBL, 8-7 overall), who also got singles from Tyler Dean, Dan Wentzell and Eric Sogard, as well as a double by Grant Desme, were outhit by the AppleSox, 10-6.

Bend stranded 10 base runners for the game.

Wenatchee catcher Paul Crowder was three for four with a double and designated hitter Dustin Colclough went two for four and drove in two runs to lead the AppleSox (7-4 WCCBL, 12-5 overall). Brent Wyatt also had two hits for Wenatchee.

The Elks and AppleSox conclude their three-game series tonight at Genna Stadium. Game time is 7 o’clock.
