The Sunriver Owners Association asked residents Tuesday night to approve a fee increase of $10 per month.

The fee would raise the monthly rate to $51 to cover maintenance costs in the community of about 1,500 south of Bend. Sunriver’s population can skyrocket up to 12,000 in the summer and on major holidays, with the combination of tourists and homeowners, according to the association.

Because of increased costs related to general liability, health insurance premiums and other issues, the association decided to hold several meetings this summer explaining the maintenance fee.

The first meeting Tuesday drew about half a dozen people. The association will hold two more discussions, one at 10 a.m. Saturday and the other at 5 p.m. July 14.

All meetings will take place at 57455 Abbot Drive in the association’s administration building.
