John Michael Palmer

John Michael Palmer, of Apache Junction, Ariz., died Feb. 21. He was 71.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. MDT on Monday at the Lions Club in Jordan Valley.

Mr. Palmer was born Aug. 29, 1934, in Jordan Valley to Gerald and Joyce (Baxter) Palmer. He married Darline Palmer.

He moved his family to Central Oregon in 1970 and lived in Redmond for more than 20 years. After retiring from riding racehorses in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, New Mexico and Canada, he became the Racing Secretary for the state of Oregon. He retired to Apache Junction in 1997.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Chad; three daughters, Jody Parmenter, Judy Wormington, and Justy Haney; a sister, Jeri Snowball; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
