Tim Knopp, executive vice president of the Central Oregon Builders Association, recently received the New Executive Officer Award from the Executive Officers Council of the National Association of Home Builders. The award is presented yearly to an association executive officer who has served no more than three years in an association management position and is judged to have made major contributions to the profession during that time. Knopp was hired as COBA’s executive vice president in January 2004.
Jerry Upham, Nicole Moye and Neiko Bernardo have joined the new Central Oregon ABC station, KOHD Channel 51.
Upham has been appointed general manager of KOHD, joining the company from KFXO Fox 39-TV in Bend, where he was general manager for 10 years. He has more than 21 years of television experience and graduated from the University of Oregon with a journalism degree.
Moye has been named director of news operations. Prior to joining KOHD, Moye was assistant news director for KCOY-TV/KKFX-TV in Santa Barbara, Calif. In that position, her news management responsibilities included overseeing news content, editorial and presentation decisions.
Bernardo will oversee engineering functions for the station and has more than 10 years of experience as an electronic field production engineer with stints that included senior video engineer for ABC Sports, the Golf Channel and ESPN.
Sue Nance, nurse administrator for Bend Surgery Center, has achieved her Certified Administrator Surgery Center credential. The credential, issued after an exam by the Board of Ambulatory Surgery Certification in Alexandria, Va., recognizes expertise and abilities in ambulatory surgery center administration in such categories as delivery of patient care and quality management.
Central Oregon Mediation, a community dispute resolution organization, re-elected Vicky MacRitchie to serve as president of the organization. MacRitchie is a counselor and mediator. Also re-elected were: vice president, Becky Lu Hummer, manager for child support for the state of Oregon; secretary, Sharon Dilley, chief financial officer for Black Butte Ranch; and treasurer, Ed Styskel, wildlife biologist consultant and mediator. New members to the board of directors are Mary Fuller from Mature Decision, a free-lance mediator and paralegal; Rebecca Bryant, executive director of Hospice of Redmond; and Lori Orton, paralegal from Sunriver. Board liaison from the Bend Police Department is Sgt. Ben Gregory. Central Oregon Mediation provides mediation services to Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson counties.
Shauna Quistorff, executive director of the Central Oregon Environmental Center, was selected to represent the state of Oregon at the Nonprofit Congress National Meeting, to be held Oct. 16 and 17 in Washington, D.C. More than 400 individuals from 48 states and the District of Columbia applied to be delegates. The Nonprofit Congress is national movement to build a diverse network of local leaders to identify and address the challenges that nonprofits face in meeting and advocating for community needs.
Mike Harlan has joined Advanced Specialty Care, located in Bend and Redmond, as administrator. He has 25 years of medical management experience, which includes business development of multiple locations, site selection, building design and operations management. Prior to joining Advanced Speciality Care, Harlan worked for a local medical facility as the ophthalmology and optical department manager.
Brasada Ranch, a new residential golf resort in Crook County, has announced the hiring of six new employees: Debbie Kowalski, Dave Koehler, Jessica Anderson, Shelaun Norby, Marrissa Rainey and Ann Wachs.
Kowalski, formerly a planner for the city of Prineville, has joined as an administrative assistant/accounting coordinator.
Koehler, Anderson and Norby have been named customer service associates for the resort’s rental operations division.
Koehler was previously a supervisor with the American Automobile Association in Nevada.
Anderson is a recent graduate of Oregon State University with a degree in marketing and communication.
Norby, of Powell Butte, has several years of experience in the hospitality industry and previously worked for the Oregon Convention Center.
Rainey, a Bend native, is the new training and development specialist. A University of Oregon graduate, Rainey most recently worked as a trainer and supervisor for Unicel.
Wachs has joined the marketing department. She has more than 10 years of experience in the advertising industry and most recently worked for Oregon Home magazine in Portland.
