Doppelmayr CTEC employees Pete McKinnon, of Flagstaff, Ariz., left, and Peter Johnson, of Bend, guide down the front mast of the drive terminal for the new Pine Marten Express chairlift at Mt. Bachelor ski area Thursday as boom truck operator Rusty Allen, of Bend, background, lowers the 6,500-pound mast onto its support base at the top of the $3.5 million high-speed, four-person lift. Constructed by Austria-based Doppelmayr, the chairlift will be completed before the mountain’s tentative Nov. 17 opening date. Today, meanwhile, Mt. Bachelor began selling season passes online at www.mtbachelor.com, raising prices in all categories, in part to help cover rising costs that include the new lift. The ski area raised its ”unlimited” adult season passes almost 19 percent to $829 but is offering ”nonholiday” passes at last year’s price of $699. The resort also raised its unlimited season pass prices for spouses by 12 percent, to $729; youths (ages 6-12) by 34 percent, to $199; and teens (13-18) by 57 percent, to $359. Passes for young adults (19-23) and seniors (65-69) rose 26 percent, to $629. The resort also offers nonholiday season passes at lesser rates.
