Richard A. Trudel, of Bend, died Saturday of heart failure. He was 49.

A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Des-chutes Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Trudel was born Sept. 2, 1957, in Pomona, Calif., to Emmett and Dolores (Carrillo) Trudel. He married Kathy Brunk on Jan. 21, 2000, in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.

Mr. Trudel served in the U.S. Army. He was a business owner and a land surveyor.

Survivors include his wife; his father, of East Layton, Utah, and his mother, Dolores Chavez, of Alta Loma, Calif.; and three sisters, Susan Cloots, of Redondo Beach, Calif., Debbie Chavez, of Alta Loma, and Yvonne Chavez, of Redondo Beach.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Simon Chavez.
