Martha Jean Berry, of Bend, died Sept. 25 of natural causes. She was 88.

No services are planned.

Mrs. Berry was born Jan. 10, 1918, in Olds, Iowa, to Leslie and Anna Brown. She was a college graduate. She married Clifford Berry in 1942 in Ames, Iowa.

Mrs. Berry worked as a teacher and librarian in Orange County, Calif. She was a member of Mensa and P.E.O. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and Spain and volunteer work. She moved to Bend in 2004.

Survivors include a son, David, of Peyton, Colo.; a sister, Ila Wells, of Walker, Minn.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
