George Shannon Berry

George Shannon Berry, of Bend, died Monday of cancer. He was 78.

A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Autumn Funeral Home in Bend.

Mr. Berry was born Nov. 18, 1927, in Abilene, Texas, to John and Susie Berry.

Mr. Berry worked as a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling to the Oregon Coast.

Survivors include four sons, George Jr., of Ogden, Utah, Forrest, of Sunriver, and Micheal and Timothy, both of Bend; two daughters, Susie Knight, of Bend, and Cynthia Edwards, of Portland; two brothers, John, of Willows, Calif., and Andy, of Vancouver, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
