BEND HIGH

Head coach: Steve Hayes (second season).

2005-06 record: 12-4, second place in Intermountain Conference; 17-7 overall; lost to Oregon City in second round of Class 4A state playoffs.

Returning all-league players: Kimber Mattox, sr.; Kaitlyn Gould, sr.; Kaitlyn Tebbs, sr.; Lindsey White, sr.

Team strengths: Depth, athleticism, senior leadership.

Team weaknesses: Lack of height.

Season opener: Friday, Dec. 1, vs. Mazama.

League opener: Friday, Jan. 5, vs. Mountain View.

CROOK COUNTY

Head coach: Kurt Sloper (second season).

2005-06 record: 7-9, fifth-place tie in Intermountain Conference; 9-14 overall.

Returning all-league players: Jessica Lea, jr.

Team strengths: Team speed, transition offense.

Team weaknesses: Lack of height, inexperience.

Season opener: Friday, Dec. 1, vs. Eagle Point.

League opener: Friday, Jan. 5, vs. Hermiston.

MADRAS

Head coach: Becky Burchell (second season).

2005-06 record: 1-11, seventh place in Class 3A Tri-Valley League; 4-19 overall.

Returning all-league players: Briana Stacona, jr.; Krista Haugen, jr.

Team strengths: Shooting, height, team speed.

Team weaknesses: Second-half slumps, not physical enough.

Season opener: Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Hood River Valley.

League opener: Friday, Jan. 5, at The Dalles-Wahtonka.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Head coach: J.J. Anderson (first season).

2005-06 record: 11-5, fourth place in Intermountain Conference; 19-7 overall; lost to Central Catholic in second round of Class 4A state playoffs.

Returning all-league players: Aubrey Gutierrez, sr.; Kalah Heacock, sr.

Team strengths: Depth, experience, post play.

Team weaknesses: Adjusting to new system, chemistry.

Season opener: Friday, Dec. 1, at Corvallis Tournament.

League opener: Friday, Jan. 5, at Bend.

SUMMIT

Head coach: Scott Baker (fourth season).

2005-06 record: 1-15, ninth place in Intermountain Conference; 6-17 overall.
