Union wages

The Bulletin’s editorial page has taken swipes at the prevailing wage paid to construction workers on government jobs. It is my understanding these are wages comparable to union wages without the benefits that a union provides.
Given the outsourcing of U.S. companies to countries that violate human rights and employ children, I would think this should not even be an issue that is part of your editorials.
The local schoolchildren are not going to be denied a building or service because of prevailing wages.
From what I read in your paper, more and more hardworking blue-collar jobs are going away. These were once jobs that paid a wage that an individual could live on and provided benefits for health care, survivors benefits, etc., and yes probably the majority union-based. It was because of low wages, misuse of workers and corporate greed that unions came in to place.
