Carol Jean Macgirvin, of Bend, died Tuesday. She was 70.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Niswonger-Reynolds Chapel. A memorial service will follow.

Mrs. Macgirvin was born Aug. 4, 1936, in Ross, Calif., to George and Mary (Maloney) Crotts.

She received a psychiatric technician certificate from the State of California. She married Stanley Macgirvin on April 25, 1981, in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Mrs. Macgirvin worked as a psychiatric technician for Sonoma State Hospital in California until her retirement in 1991.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Bend. She enjoyed travel and spending time with her pets.

Survivors include her husband; a stepson, Michael, of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Martha Bryant, of Seattle, and Mary Jane Thoreson, of Colo-rado Springs, Colo.; a brother, George Crotts, of North Bend, Wash.; a sister, Louanne Tate, of Prescott, Ariz.; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Feed the Children program.

Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
