Teach them all?

I’ve noticed that The Bulletin has published three letters despairing over the firing of the Sisters teacher who had brought up creationism to his biology class. All of them expressed a desire to bring up both sides of the issue. Both sides?

There are probably dozens of schools of thought as to how man came to be on Earth.

Should we acknowledge all of them and take all of the classroom time to discuss them? The curriculum as it currently stands states that we should teach evolution, and not the others.

As to whether the teacher should have been terminated, I don’t know enough about what he specifically did.

If he was merely discussing the beliefs of others and not imposing his religious beliefs on the classroom, then I don’t feel his termination was justified.
