Two of Central Oregon’s biggest choral groups join voices this weekend with a pair of concerts.
The 45-voice Central Oregon Mastersingers (directed by Clyde Thompson) and the 60 members of the Youth Choir of Central Oregon (directed by Beth Basham) will perform a number of works by classical composers such as Bach, Brahms and Poulenc. The two groups will also perform ”O Magnum Mysterium” by Morten Lauridsen and new works by John Tavener and Eric Whitacre.
The music will range from gospel music to Broadway and even country western. The concerts will feature a rendition of ”O Susannah” in a new arrangement written for both choirs.
The concerts take place at 7:30 tonight at the Church of the Nazarene, 1270 N.E. 27th St. in Bend, and at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sunriver Community Church, located on Beaver Drive at Theatre Drive near the Mall in Sunriver.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for students and children ages 17 and under.
