PRINEVILLE – Jake Prow led the way all game long and his teammates came through with one big inning as Madras defeated Crook County 7-2 in Intermountain Conference baseball action Tuesday.
Prow finished the day three for three at the plate with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.
”He (Prow) played well,” said Madras coach Kevin Cave. ”He was patient and went with every pitch.”
Prow also contributed on the mound, throwing three dominant innings in relief, allowing no runs and striking out six.
The game was tight early, with the Cowboys taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning after John Mountz singled to score Mike Haring. Prow evened the score 1-1 with his solo shot over the center-field fence in the fourth.
The fifth inning started off with a bang, as Zach Quinn ripped a lead-off home run to right field for the White Buffaloes. Two walks, two hits and two Crook County errors later, Madras had tacked on four more runs and increased its lead to 6-1.
Quinn finished two for four with two runs, while Darrell Ceciliani contributed a two-run single in the pivotal fifth inning for the Buffs.
