A 12-year-old boy on a bicycle was hit by a pickup just before 7 p.m. Tuesday on Lynn Boulevard in Prineville, according to a news release from the Prineville Police Department.

The boy, who police did not identify, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He was taken to Pioneer Memorial Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, the release reported.

The accident occurred when the boy rode into Lynn Boulevard from Dunaway Trailer Park and pulled into the path of the truck driven by Paulina resident Cody Kieran Bedortha, 19, according to the release.

No traffic citations were issued, and drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the crash. An unopened bottle of liquor was found in Bedortha’s truck, and he was cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol, according to the release.
