Penelope ”Penny” Marie Jeans, of Bend, died Monday of heart failure. She was 53.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Bend.

Ms. Jeans was born Dec. 28, 1953, in Patterson, Calif., to John and Ella Jeans.

She graduated from California State University, Stanislaus. She worked for St. Charles Medical Center. She played on local basketball and softball teams. She enjoyed spending time with family.

Survivors include her mother, of Bend; three brothers, John, of Sublimity, J.D., of Modesto, Calif., and Dan, of Pacific Grove, Calif.; and two sisters, Mary Terlizzi, of Chandler, Ariz., and Maggie, of Springfield.

She was preceded in death by her father and a sister.
