Hip-hop class in session at The Grove

A bomb of underground Seattle hip-hop will explode Saturday night at The Grove as Blue Scholars, Common Market and Gabriel Teodros come to town.

Blue Scholars is the best-known act on the bill, and the Rawkus Records-affiliated crew rolls into Bend on a wave of momentum, thanks to its second album, “Bayani,” which is stocked with DJ Sabzi’s soulful beats and MC Geologic’s conscious rhymes.

Common Market and Gabriel Teodros are two of Seattle’s up-and-comers; both roamed the stage at Washington’s Sasquatch Festival last weekend. Check out www.myspace.com/bluescholars to find Blue Scholars songs and links to the other two acts.

The music will start at about 10 p.m., and cover is $6. The Grove is at 1033 N.W. Bond St., in Bend.
