TOURNAMENTS

Thursdays — Weekly nine-hole scramble tournament held on Thursday evenings at Desert Peaks Golf Club in Madras through August. Begins at 6 p.m. No handicaps. Open to 24 two-man teams. Entry fee is $12.50 per player. Contact: 475-6368.

Aug. 14 — Maverix Tour event at Juniper Golf Club in Redmond. Tee times begin at 12:15 p.m. The Maverix Tour is a weekly competitive golf series held at different Central Oregon golf courses with prize pool awarded to both gross and net winners. Aug. 16-19 — Jeld-Wen Tradition at Crosswater Club in Sunriver is a 72-hole major championship with a $2.6 million purse for players 50 and older competing on the PGA Champions Tour. Admission is $10 for Aug. 14 pro/am and Aug. 15 practice round; $20 for daily tournament ticket purchased in advance, and $25 at the gate. Tournament badge is $75. Aug. 18 — Thirteenth annual Three Sisters Open at Resort Course at Eagle Crest Resort. Presented by Quota International of Central Oregon and Bend Women’s Scholarship Fund. Sept. 1-6 — USGA Senior Women’s Amateur at Sunriver Resort’s Meadows course is the national championship for female golfers ages 50 and older with a handicap index of 18.4 or less. The starting field 132 golfers will play two rounds of stroke play before the field is trimmed to the low 64 scorers, who will advance to match play. Sectional qualifying will be conducted at 23 sites across the country from July 23 to Aug. 2. Admission for spectators is free. Sept. 6-7 — Kah Nee Ta Resort’s golf course in Warm Springs will be the site of a two-day pro-amateur tournament, sponsored by the Oregon Chapter of the PGA. One professional and four amateurs play 36 holes of team golf plus individual gross and net contests. Cost is $140 per player. Sept. 10 — 10th annual Chamber Golf Tournament at Bend Golf and Country Club. Shotgun starts begins at 11 a.m. followed by dinner and awards from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Amateur men and women golfers compete in a four-person scramble tournament. Sept. 24-27 — The Fall Tour is a professional/amateur tournament for teams and individuals through the Oregon Chapter of the PGA. Sept. 28 — Clear Choice Open is an annual event benefitting health-related charitable causes. The four-person scramble tournament begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. at Widgi Creek Golf Club in Bend. Cost is $100 per person or $400 per team. Sept. 29-Oct. 4 — 2007 Pacific Amateur Golf Classic, open to any amateur golfer who possess an established USGA Handicap. The three-day, net, stroke-play tournament is staged at nine area courses, culminating in a championship round at Sunriver Resort’s Crosswater Club. Oct. 6-7 — Oregon Golf Association’s Team Championship at Juniper Golf Club in Redmond. The low three of four gross scores each day during the 36-hole stroke-play competition represent the team’s aggregate score. Entries open to four male amateur golfers who are members of the same OGA member club. A club may enter up to three teams. Entry deadline is Sept. 19. Entry fee: $470. Oct. 8 — Gopher Broke Scramble at Bend Golf and Country Club. Proceeds from this four-person scramble tournament benefit Bend Metro Park and Recreation District scholarships. Cost is $125 per person and includes greens fees and barbecue. Prizes will be awarded in net and gross divisions along with winners in long drive, long putt and closest-to-the-pin contests.
