Mark O’Meara waited until he turned 40 before playing some of his best golf.

At 41, O’Meara became the oldest player in history to win two major championships in the same season when he won the Masters and the British Open in 1998, the only two major titles of his career.

The wins highlighted a career that includes 16 PGA Tour wins and the 1979 U.S. Amateur Championship, where he beat future 11-time PGA Tour winner John Cook in the finals.

Now at 50, O’Meara is looking to revive some of that 1998 magic on the Champions Tour.

Though he has yet to win on the 50-and-over tour, the former Long Beach State All-America golfer has finished second twice and among the top 10 three other times in only 10 events played since joining the Champions Tour in January.

O’Meara almost won his first Champions major title in July, finishing one stroke behind Tom Watson in the Senior British Open at Muirfield.
