MADRAS — Despite pushing Sisters to the brink in all three sets, Madras suffered a season-opening nonleague loss, 29-27, 26-24, 25-21, in high school volleyball play on Tuesday night.

According to Madras coach Caron Smith, the White Buffaloes struggled with their serving through the first two sets of their first match of the season as only one player, Hansina Martin, had a perfect night by going 10 for 10 on serves.

“We beat ourselves with our serving,” Smith said. “We didn’t serve at 90 percent. We had our opportunities but lost on serves.”

Seniors Krista Haugen and Britney Lindgren led Madras with nine kills each, while Jessica Glaspie added five. Setter Sabria Rios picked up 23 assists.
