Artist discusses Northwest native art

Artist and carver Henry Sjoblom will give a free discussion traditional arts of the Northwest coast at the Bend Public Library on Sunday.
From 2 to 4 p.m. in the library’s Brooks Room, Sjoblom will explore the land, people, traditions, symbols and designs of native Northwest coast artists.

Sjoblom is a former art, journalism and math teacher from the Portland area. He has studied Native American art of the Northwest coast extensively and has been carving and painting in the Native American tradition for nearly thirty years.
A display of items by Sjoblom are on display on the second floor of the library (610 N.W. Wall St.).
