A stronger, faster, more disciplined Summit team had no problems handling The Dalles-Wahtonka on Saturday.
The Storm once again proved it is a force to be reckoned with in the Intermountain Conference defeating the Eagle Indians 4-0 on a sunny and warm afternoon at Sky View Middle School.

Summit’s win set up a tie for second place with Mountain View in the IMC. The Storm and the Cougars also played each other to a draw in the regular season. So their conference standing, second and third place, will be decided by the flip of a coin this weekend, by the two schools’ athletic directors.
After dominating possession in the first half and running its offense as it pleased, the Storm (5-1-1 IMC, 8-3-3 overall) rolled to victory in the final IMC boys soccer game of the regular season.
“Put ’em away early,” said Andy Hackbarth, Summit’s captain and center midfielder, of the Storm’s game plan.
Did they ever. In the fourth minute, Corey Cahalane scored off a corner kick from Cody Kohlmoos, giving Summit the momentum from the get-go.
Hackbarth, sometimes trotting, sometimes sprinting full bore, controlled the play of the game from the middle, shouting out to open Summit players or directing the flow of the attack. The Storm showed great composure in its looks across the field and in its passing game, carefully setting up the next strike.
Only seven minutes after its first goal, Summit scored again, this time on a well-placed header from Hackbarth. Kohlmoos earned his second assist as The Dalles-Wahtonka’s goalkeeper Hunter Woods could only watch as the ball went well past his reach.

The Eagle Indians (2-5 IMC, 8-6) tried to take the offensive, but whenever they would get close to midfield, one of Summit’s three imposing defenders — Dylan Woock, Tyler Boger and Dillon Caldwell — deftly stole the ball and redirected it to an awaiting Storm player. Often times the most reliable outlet was midfielder Remy Condevaux, a foreign-exchange student from France.
Condevaux dribbled through multiple defenders, calmly searching for the open player and correct attack sequence. Patient and composed, Condevaux created numerous scoring opportunities for the Storm.
Summit’s patience was again rewarded in the 32nd minute. A free kick from 35 yards allowed Hackbarth a chance at the goal from within the 6-yard line. Hackbarth was denied by a good save from Woods, but Cicero Franco was waiting in the wings and scored on the deflection to put Summit up 3-0 before halftime.
“We’ve tried to score some goals on the attack,” said Summit coach Ron Kidder, who noted that his team has scored the bulk of its goals on set plays. Saturday’s game was a mix of planned and spontaneous scores.
The Storm added its fourth and final goal in the 71st minute, this time, on the run. Lucas Deatherage won the ball and beat Woods to put the Storm up 4-0.
“We started out (the season) rough, but I think we can go far,” Hackbarth said. “We’ve proved we can hang with Bend.”
